Neighbourhood Action Plans
Central NAP
The Central Estate NAP area is situated in the St Hilda ward and has a resident population of approximately 1,655 people living within 715 households.
The Estate has a close knit community with a good mix of housing stock. There is a community centre in Heronspool Close, which is situated in the neighbourhood and, is well used by the local community for coffee mornings and activities. It is also used for meetings of the Neighbourhood Action Plan Forum.
The area is also served by the Phoenix Centre and the Central Estate Management Organisation (CEMO), which has succeeded in becoming one of five pilot Housing and Communities Agency funded neighbourhood studies. CEMO is a community owned company made up of residents of the Central Estate whose Managemant Board is selected by local tenants. In addition to this, Central Correctors, a youth group for children and young people aged between 8 and 19 years, is very active in the area.
