Neighbourhood Renewal

Like many towns and cities, Hartlepool has neighbourhoods that experience high crime and unemployment where people and employers have left, and empty homes have created opportunities for crime and anti-social behaviour.

Hartlepool's Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy is a key part of our Community Strategy.  It sets out actions to reverse this decline and breathe new life into our most disadvantaged neighbourhoods.

Our aim for Neighbourhod Renewal is:
To continue the regeneration of Hartlepool and ensure that local people, organisations and service providers work together to narrow the gap between the most deprived neighbourhoods and the rest of the borough, so that in the future, no-one is seriously disadvantaged by where they live.

Nearly half of Hartlepool's residents live in neighbourhoods classified as deprived by the Government.  Our Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy identifies the key problems experienced in each neighbourhood and reviews existing resources and programmes currently being delivered.  It also establishes key priorities for the future.
