About the Environment Partnership

» View pages in this section

The Environment Partnership is made up of the key private, public and voluntary sector agencies with an interest in local and global environmental issues. Helping to deliver the Community Strategy, its aim is to "Secure and enhance an attractive and sustainable environment that is clean, green, safe and valued by the community."

The Environment Partnership develops and manages major environmental strategies, and advises on issues concerning the Natural and Built environment. It provides a link between environmental and wider policies for the social and economic regeneration of the area, tackling issues of common concern.

The Environment Partnership meets at least 4 times a year to consider environmental policies and strategies and issues of local and global environmental significance. There are currently 4 working groups which report to the partnership: Natural Environment, Climate Change, Environmental Education and Transport. This co-ordinated approach is designed to help meet environmental targets, and working with other organisations and individuals it forms working groups to deal with specific issues. The group produces and manages the Hartlepool Climate Change Strategy and action plan.
