The recent Audit Commission highlighted that 'The Council has a strong approach to regeneration as a key driver for improving the quality of life in Hartlepool '.  Headline achievements in this area include:

·  The redevelopment of the South Dock within Victoria Harbour has been one of the key successes of regeneration in Hartlepool . The Tall Ships race will help accelerate work on the site and marketing of the first key site has commenced.

·  Hartlepool Economic Development has led on the Jobsmart Employment and Skills Consortium which has brought together over 40 employment and training providers and statutory agencies who are committed to provide services to key target areas and priority groups.  A new 'One Stop Employment Shop' was opened in September 2007 resulting in over 2,000 residents registering with the service.

·  Hartlepool Enterprise Centre (formerly Brougham Enterprise Centre) has delivered significantly improved facilities for local businesses and the continued development of the Incubation System providing an unparalleled network of business support.

·  The Enterprising Hartlepool project continues to flourish and is increasingly involved in the development of ideas and implementation of the Incubation Strategy.

·  The Hartlepool Incubation system at the Queens Meadow 27,000 sq. ft. Innovation Centre is now fully operational and has surpassed all expectations in terms of quality and letting rates which currently stands at 100%.
