Economic Forum
About the Economic Forum
The Economic Forum is a partnership that brings together representatives from the private, voluntary and public sectors operating across the Borough and is open to any organisation with an interest in the economic prosperity of the town. Its aim is to "Develop a more enterprising, vigorous and diverse local economy that will attract new investment, enable local enterprises and entrepreneurs to be globally competitive and create more employment opportunities for local people."
To achieve this aim, the Economic Forum draws on its experience and the expertise of its membership to influence policy development and crucially, to make the connections between policy, delivery and outcomes. These policies are implemented through the initiatives and interventions of a wide variety of service providers and it is important to ensure that this work is efficient and effective in addressing the interests of Hartlepool and improving its economy.
The Economic Forum also helps to identify new sources of funding, and as an inclusive body it reflects the diverse needs of the people of Hartlepool , reducing inequalities. It consults with business, community representatives, residents and other stakeholders, and works with other partnerships, networks and forums for the benefit of Hartlepool . The Forum is striving to increase the number of business start-ups, increase the Employment Rate, and reduce Long Term and Youth Unemployment
The Economic Forum has a Chair and Vice Chair who are elected by the full membership of the Economic Forum at the Annual General Meeting, and the Steering Group elects three Champions from the private sector and will help to attract investment, be globally competitive and create more employment opportunities.
